Just as the title of her latest mix-tape suggests, Lil' Kim is in-fact one of the greatest emcees of all time. This is due not only to her huge impact on rap music, or the longevity of her career, but through the transcendence of her persona into a pop-culture/fashion icon. However, post-"Lady Marmalade" I'd feared that she had become addicted to plastic surgery after a revision to her first rhinoplasty had left her looking something like a Who from "Whoville" with bloated lips and a Jackson-esque nose (alot like Meg Ryan). It was clearly evident that Kim was a victim of bad plastic surgery and there have been a slew of unflattering photos that have reminded us of it since.
But, new pictures of the Queen Bee taken at the 2008 Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards show the lady looking lovely. It appears as though she's had either another revision or the dents in the nose filled in with something, whatever it is it looks great (still not perfect but much better). Her lips are also devoid of any foreign material which makes her smile so much more beautiful and natural looking.
I can't express how happy I am to see Kim's face return to a normal state. I also love the the hair and eye color combinations she's been using lately. The jet-black hair and bright honey lenses (which I believe to be Color-blends and usually despise of) actually look great on her as each balances the other out while still maintaining a striking appearance overall. I'd love to see her use makeup to bring the eyes out even more, a metalic gray color would probably make the lenses really pop and it's been a while since I've seen a famous woman of color wearing black lipstick (which I've always thought looked amazing), maybe that combination with slightly lighter hair (maybe a dark or black-brown) would look good too. I really wanna see this lady bring out the inner Queen of the Night with darker fashion and makeup choices. I'll probably start some sketches of looks for her and post them on here for you guys to see and judge as well.
Above I've attached a collage that I made of pics from the event so you can see for yourself what I'm talking about (you'll have to click to enlarge it).
